Calmness Healing Balance
About Reiki
Reiki is a relaxation and healing technique that originated in Japan in the early 1920s. Reiki includes a hands-on or hovering approach that manipulates the energy field around the human body. This energy has been called many things, such as the "aura" around the body or the "chakras" within the body. This technique has been passed from teacher to student in Japanese fashion and all practitioners can provide lineage dating back to the founder, Mikao Usui.

The word Reiki includes the two portions that make up the actual teaching of the technique: "rei" meaning wisdom or higher power, and "ki" or chi, meaning life force. While it incorporates these things, it is important to keep in mind that Reiki itself is secular and not based in any specific religious practice. There have been many recent medical studies on Reiki, and it has become more popular as information becomes more widely available about the many benefits of this technique.

What to Expect During a Session?
Reiki healing can be a very personal experience and the outcome is different for each person. Things to expect can include extreme relaxation, emotional discoveries, and the feeling of the energies around the body.

A typical virtual session will include a quiet space with the receiver either sitting or lying down and the sending of the Reiki over the distance between the two participants. An in-person session is much the same except the practitioner will hover their hands directly over the receiver's body.
